In the last many months I have been slammed busy in creating the Relief & Resource Center, Know My Impact, & Wellraiser Radio which has prevented me from doing many Manners & Motivation events. However, when the local high school came calling I knew I couldn't say no! ...and I knew it would be emotional.

I never had the opportunity to share many of my stories in the small town in which they occured and here it was on a silver platter. I'll be honest, I was a little nervous (which almost never happens) but it felt good to get my hands around a mic again! Seeing the smiling faces of all the Wellraisers of Montezuma IA staring back at me, wondering what to expect, kicked things into high gear right out of the gate! Those young ladies & gentleman brought the heat and earned the honesty they were about to receive!

If you have something nice to say, say it!

If you have something nice to say, say it!

Participation was at max, each question I brought forth was answered with loud cheers, inclusion, and no judgement. It's always my goal to have a heart to heart conversation with a room full of friends just as if we were hangin out late at night talking one to one over some take out pizza. The only way to do this is create an atmosphere of fun and safety...which we had right from the start.

Many of the individuals that have supported me since this journey began way back in 2001 were there to voice shook, there were some tears from the students, but there was also a triumphant connection. This connection to students was reflected in the sheer volume of messages I received after the event. "I was afraid to be different and I felt invisible but you made me realize it's ok to be different!" "Thank you for making me realize it's ok to compliment myself." "Thanks for reminding me that life's too dang short to be unhappy!" These are just a few of the many sentiments shared from students in person or via social media. No matter how nervous I get before an event it's these moments that remind me why I do this! At every event students think I am helping to change them for the postive but what they may not realize is that they're changing me for the better too!

Long story short, Montezuma Ruled Haaaaaard! It was a big welcome back to speaking! Thanks to all the staff of Montezuma Jr/Sr High School, the community of Montezuma, and to all the Wellraisers in attendance! Your success is my success and I cannot wait to hear of the positive impact you all are making in school and in your community!
